Box Score ST. GEORGE, UTAH (October 29, 2015)—The Hawaii Pacific men's soccer team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Dixie State University in a PacWest Conference contest at Hansen Stadium.
The Sharks (8-5-1, 6-3-1 PacWest) fell behind 1-0 in the 28
th minute as Dixie's Dominic Damato scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Zach Leon.
The Red Storm (9-1-4, 7-0-4) then scored on a penalty kick from Santiago Alejandro in the 55
th minute to increase its advantage to 2-0. HPU appeared poised for a comeback as
Sven Koenig scored his sixth goal of the season in the 84
th minute, however, DSU answered with another goal by Alejandro two minutes later to preserve its advantage. Alejandro made an attempt at a hat trick, but his shot in the 90
th minute glanced off the post.
The squads both displayed formidable offensive attacks as each squad notched 10 shots and four shots-on-goal. Four yellow-card cautions were handed out during the match, including three for the Sharks.
HPU continues its three-match road trip including matches along the West Coast and in Laie before returning to Atherton Field on Nov. 7 for Senior Day and the season finale against UH Hilo at 3 p.m.
