Josch Cuerten, the Hawaii Pacific men's soccer team clipped Concordia Irvine University 2-0 in a PacWest Conference contest at Eagles Field.
The Sharks (5-3-1, 3-1-1 PacWest) continued their torrid run as the squad has lost just once in its last seven matches while outscoring opponents 17-5 during that stretch. Cuerten, who now has four goals on the season, put his team ahead in the 21
st minute following a pass from
Christopher Campbell. Cuerten then provided an insurance goal in the 67
th minute on an assist from
Kona Gaison.
HPU out-shot Concordia 12-9 and goalkeeper
Eduardo Palacios made five saves while preserving the clean sheet.
The Eagles (2-7, 2-3) challenged the Sharks for the first time since 1991 as Concordia continues its PacWest debut.
HPU continues its four-match road trip with contests at Azusa Pacific University on Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. and Chaminade University on Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m.
