Box Score IRVINE, CALIF. (October 8, 2015)—The Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball team fell to Concordia Irvine University 22-25, 28-26, 25-19, 25-20 in a PacWest Conference matchup at the Eagles' CU Arena.
The Sharks (11-5, 6-2 PacWest) were led by junior outside hitter
Pomai Recca's 17 kills, while senior
Elizabeth Culpepper chipped in 15 kills on a night during which HPU hit .134. Setter
Tenika Wentworth notched 38 assists and 11 digs and senior defensive specialist
Amanda Moriarty racked up 21 digs.
The Eagles (8-9, 4-4) were led by Rachel Flynn's match-high 19 kills, while Logan Grove served up 46 assists and Taylor Dennison accumulated a match-best 30 digs.
"We had our chances, but I think fatigue started to set in after last night's marathon," said HPU coach
Daryl Kapis. "We worked really hard but made a few errors late that led to our eventual defeat. No, we're on to Dixie."
HPU continues its road swing that includes a four-match PacWest trip through California and Utah. The Sharks return home on Oct. 16 to face Notre Dame De Namur University.
