Men’s Soccer Blanked by BYU-Hawaii

Box Score LAIE, Hawaii (November 5, 2015)—The Hawaii Pacific men's soccer team was shut out 1-0 by BYU-Hawaii in a PacWest Conference clash at the BYUH Soccer Field.

HPU (9-6-1, 7-4-1 PacWest) appeared ready to go into intermission unscathed via a scoreless first frame, but the Seasiders scored in the 45th minute on Besser Davila's goal, which was assisted by Kyle Oertel.

BYU-Hawaii (9-8, 7-5) picked up the win despite being out-shot 16-13 by the visitors, and the Sharks could not score despite racking up eight shots-on-goal, all of which were saved by goalkeeper Mark Stanley.

The match proved to be a physical one as 25 total fouls were called and five yellow-card cautions were issued.

HPU returns to action at Atherton Field on Nov. 7 for Senior Day and the season finale against UH Hilo at 3 p.m.
