Box Score BELMONT, Calif. (November 6, 2015)—With no room for error remaining in the season's home stretch, the Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball team picked up a crucial road victory over Notre Dame De Namur 24-26, 25-23, 25-22, 25-14 in a PacWest Conference matchup.
The Sharks (13-10, 8-7 PacWest) snapped a four-match losing streak and received a game-high 16 kills from Kamehameha product
Pomai Recca, while
Kayla Demari and
Lea Felton both hit a blistering .407 and racked up 14 and 13 kills.
Setter
Tenika Wentworth notched a match-leading 44 assists and chipped in nine digs and three blocks, while senior defensive specialist
Amanda Moriarty posted 28 digs. Senior
Kasey Thompson, who is playing through the pain of a serious knee injury, added nine kills, while Recca also helped out on defense to the tune of 18 digs.
"It was great getting back to our winning ways again," said HPU coach
Daryl Kapis. "It's been hard watching us losing by so little. It was so nice to see smiles on our girls' faces. We hope to continue this good play tomorrow night."
The Argonauts (10-16, 6-11) were led by 13 kills from Bianca Alvarez, but hit a paltry .121 on the evening.
HPU will remain on the road to continue its three-match away swing and returns for a home contest at St. Andrew's Priory on Friday, Nov. 13, to face PacWest foe Point Loma at 7 p.m.
