Box Score HONOLULU (September 5, 2015)—The Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball team received 11 kills apiece from
Pomai Recca and
Kayla Demari but fell 3-1, 27-25, 25-15, 25-27, 26-24, to Simon Fraser (B.C.) in the final game of the Hawaii Invitational at St. Andrew's Priory's James C. Castle Gym.
The Sharks (2-2) also netted 10 kills from
Elizabeth Culpepper, while teammates
Carson Pyle (.636 hitting, 7 kills),
Lea Felton (.625 hitting, 5 kills and 4 blocks) and Demari (.526 hitting) posted commendable attacking figures. Freshman setter
Mahea Pescaia also turned in a solid effort with 27 assists, 3 kills and 7 digs.
The Clan (2-2) received a match-high 16 kills from Christine Howlett, while teammate Tessa May added 11 kills.
"We've dealt with some adversity involving lineup issues and we've tried to work as a staff to piece together this puzzle," said HPU coach
Daryl Kapis. "We look forward to playing Simon Fraser when we're at full strength."
HPU hits the road for the first time this season and returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 2:30 p.m. Hawaii time for a rematch with Simon Fraser (B.C.) University as part of the PacWest/GNAC Crossover.
