Point Loma downs Sharks 2-0

WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Point Loma used two first half goals and made them stand as the Sea Lions beat Hawai'i Pacific University 2-0  in PacWest Conference play on Monday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park.

HPU (3-10-1, 3-6-0) battled the PacWest leader Point Loma (10-2-3, 8-1-1) but could not get through the Sea Lion defense.

The Sharks could only manage one shot in the game, while the Sea Lions fired 12 times at HPU.

Point Loma didn't take long to get on the board, attacking Sharks net early and scoring in just the second minute of the game. Sami Swanson recovered a series of deflections in the 18-yard box and snuck a shot in for the early 1-0 advantage.

The Sea Lions came up with their second goal in the 30th minute off a corner kick. Madelon Denbaugh headed in the corner from Rachel Witz for the 2-0 score that stood up as the final.
