FRESNO, Calif. – The end of the season wasn't kind to Hawai'i Pacific University as the Sharks fell to Fresno Pacific 4-2 in PacWest Conference play on Saturday night at Ramirez Field.
HPU (4-12-2, 4-8-1) fell to 11th in the PacWest, while the Sunbirds (9-7-1, 7-5-1) finished in the sixth spot.
Fresno State outshot HPU 29-17, with the Sharks having 10 shots on goal and the Sunbirds 17.

Sky Nanoo and sophomore Leonica Lopez scored for the Sharks in the season finale.
FPU didn't take long to light the scoreboard as Ana Walker scored on a free kick from near midfield, bending a shot past leaping HPU goalkeeper
Alannah John for a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute.
The Sunbirds scored again in the 29th minute when Alyssa Nakaguchi blasted a shot from 35 yards out for a 2-0 lead that would carry to halftime.
HPU cut the lead in the 69th minute when Nanoo, the senior from Citrus Heights, Calif./Bella Vista followed up a save deflection for the first goal of her career in her final game. Sophomore
Noelle Mercado of Honolulu, Hawai'i/Kaiser got the assist when her shot was knocked away by FPU keeper Summer Hammond and Nanoo put in the rebound in the net for a 2-1 score.
The Sharks had two more opportunities end in saves by Hammond before the Sunbirds scored with four minutes to play. FPU's Rachel Anderson scored when Mariah Montoya dribbled past an HPU defender and dumped off the ball for Anderson's goal.
The Sharks kept pressing and pulled within a goal in the 89th minute as freshman
Ebony Madrid of Porterville, Calif./Ramstein volleyed a pass to sophomore Leonica Lopez of Sacramento, Calif./Christian Brothers who beat reserved keeper Piper Brown for her second goal of the year and a 3-2 score.
But the attacking Sharks left an opening for the Sunbirds in the final 32 seconds of the game as a pair of quick passes found Paige Jano with an open shot and the 4-2 advantage in the 90th minute.
HPU got seven saves from John, a junior from Sacramento, Calif./Ponderosa in the first half, and six saves from sophomore
Lauren Spencer of Oxford, Mich./Oxford in the second half.
Hammond posted six saves for the Sunbirds, while Brown had two saves in a little over 11 minutes in goal.
