(February 1, 2016) – Jordan Martin sank two clutch free throws with 17 seconds left in the game and helped propel the Hawaii Pacific men's basketball team to a monumental 83-80 victory over No. 19 Azusa Pacific University in a key PacWest Conference matchup at Felix Events Center.
 
Despite squandering an eight-point lead over the game's final three minutes, the Sharks (14-6 overall, 9-4 PacWest) made five-of-six free throws over the game's final 17 seconds to secure the win.
 
Martin and senior guard Chauncey Orr scored 22 points apiece to buoy the upset victory. Martin connected on six 3-pointers and dished out five assists, while Orr pulled down seven rebounds and made all eight of his free throws.
 
Colfax Nordquist also stepped up with 13 points, four rebounds and three steals, as did post player Elliott DeFreitas, who added six points, seven rebounds and a block. HPU was successful in part because it committed just eight turnovers, while forcing 18 APU turnovers that led to 27 points.
 
Forward Joel Feigler scored nine points, pulled down five rebounds and blocked a shot—his 33^rd rejection in the last 12 games. The Las Vegas native and Central Arkansas transfer is averaging 12.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game this season.
 
The Cougars (15-6, 9-4) received 22 points from Bruce English, who hit three treys.
