WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University freshman
Nina Gonzales first goal of her career was all that the Sharks needed as HPU beat Academy of Art 1-0 in PacWest Conference action Thursday afternoon at at the Waipio Soccer Complex.
The Sharks (6-3-1, 2-2-1) got back on the winning track and evened their conference record. The Urban Knights (0-9-1, 0-5) remained winless.
The game was scoreless until the 67th minute, when Gonzales provided the only score of the game. Sharks forward
Leonicia Lopez of Sacramento, Calif./Christian Brothers had the ball on the left side of the field and crossed it to Gonzales of Palmdale, Calif./Knight who was centered in the top of the box. Gonzales gathered the ball and rifled it past ArtU goalkeeper Morgan Wirz.

Lauren Spencer from Oxford, Mich./Oxford, tallied her fourth shutout of the year in recording four saves on 10 ArtU shots. Wirz posted nine saves and a goal allowed in facing 22 Shark volleys.
HPU closes a three-game homestand at the Waipio Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon when they host Hawai'i Hilo for a PacWest game at 12:30 p.m.
