SAN DIEGO — Hawai'i Pacific University was swept in a PacWest Conference doubleheader on Saturday as Point Loma took down HPU 18-1 and 6-2 to open a four-game set at C.B. Land Stadium.
The Sharks (11-5, 1-3) could dig out of holes it created. The Sea Lions (8-3, 2-0) picked up a pair of wins to open their PacWest campaign.
The Sharks suffered an eight run third inning in the first game, then had five errors in the second game that doomed them.
Junior
Wyatt Hoppie was 2-for-8 in the twinbill with a run and an RBI for the Sharks.
HPU senior
William Clemens (1-2) was tagged with the loss in game one, while
Matthew Gunter (1-2) suffered his second loss of the season in the second game.
The teams take Sunday off, then play another twinbill on Monday starting at 9 a.m. HST (11 a.m. PST).
