WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University scored three second half goals to put away Hawai'i Hilo 4-1 Thursday afternoon in non-conference action at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park's Field 5.
The Sharks (2-2) evened their season record while the Vulcans (1-3) dropped their third straight.
The HPU defense was stellar, allowing just four shots by the Vulcans, while the Sharks offense pelted UH Hilo with 21 total shot on the way to four goals.

Chandler Schur of Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg Career Magnet recorded two saves with a goal allowed on the four shots, while junior
Jair Espinoza of San Miguel Petapa, Guatemala led the Sharks scoring with a goal and two assists.
The game was even through the first 43 minutes before the Vulcans were whistled for a foul in the box with a yellow card on Jack Stonehouse that gave HPU a penalty kick in the 44th minute. Espinoza blasted the ball by Vulcan goalkeeper Nick Williams to give HPU a 1-0 lead.
The Vulcans posted an equalizer early in the second half. UHH's Pedro Werneck got a fine cross for a shot in the 50th minute that was saved was saved by Schur, but the rebound came right back to Werneck who sent a second shot past the outstretched Schur to knot the game.
But HPU wouldn't trail long. Less than 30 seconds later, the Sharks worked the kickoff downfield and freshman
Reece Montgomery of Dromore, Northern Ireland got the ball on the far left side and fired it past Williams to go back on top 2-1.
HPU got an insurance goal in the 67th minute when senior
Tom Karshuening of Satrop, Germany and Espinoza teamed to deliver a beautiful ball to freshman
Makana Srivongsana of Honolulu, Hawai'i/Kaiser who toe poked it into the net for his second goal of the season and a 3-1 lead.
The Sharks put the contest away in the 85th minute when junior
Paul Enzigmueller of Zimdorf, Germany, took the ball on the left side and found Espinoza who chipped the ball to junior transfer
Kyle Rivers from Spanaway, Wash./Spanaway Lake by way of Tacoma Community College to collect his first goal of the season and put HPU up 4-1.
In all HPU scored four goals on Williams, who recorded 10 saves against the Sharks 21 shots.
The Sharks don't have much time to enjoy the win as they open PacWest Conference play on Saturday afternoon against Azusa Pacific at Waipio's Field 5. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m.
