SEASIDE, Calif. – Senior goalkeeper
Lauren Spencer tallied 10 saves as Hawai'i Pacific University opened a four-game California road trip with a 0-0 double overtime tie against Cal State Monterey Bay in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.
The Sharks (1-3-3) collected second consecutive tie and played in their fifth overtime contest in seven matches this season. The Otters (4-4-1) were tied for the first time this season.
Spencer, the senior keeper from Oxford, Mich./Oxford, faced 18 CSUMB shots, kept a perfect sheet recording 10 saves in the 110 minutes played.
The Sharks had 11 shots in the contest against Otter goalkeeper Stephanie Busch who posted four saves.
Spencer faced 11 shots in the second half of regulation time recording five saves.
HPU had its strongest offensive attack in the second golden goal overtime period, with four shots, two on goal.
The Sharks continue their road trip with a second non-conference matchup at Division III UC Santa Cruz on Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. HST (4 p.m. PDT) in Santa Cruz.
