HONOLULU – No. 10 Hawai'i Pacific University completed their regular season on Monday afternoon with a sweep of cross-town rival Chaminade 7-0 at Ala Moana Park.
The Sharks (10-5) didn't drop a set and didn't lose more than two games at any position in the win over the Silverswords (3-11).
HPU made quick work of the doubles point, dropping a total of three games over the three matches.
Monica Greene and
Jayme Waites opened with a 6-0 win over Tomomi Kohno and Angelica Almilla at No. 3, with
Debora Echeverria and
Heloise Le Normand following with a 6-1 triumph against Elyssa Shirai and Cai Yan Fang at No. 2.
Mihoki Miyahara and
Sarah Ikioka then posted a 6-2 win against Catrina Liner and Salamasina Te'i at No. 1 to sweep the point.
The Sharks grabbed the singles as well with
Nicole Ballach beating Shirai 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, with Miyahara besting Liner 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, and clinching the match as Ikioka shutout Te'i 6-0, 6-0.
Shortly after, Le Normand won at No. 4 over Fang 6-1, 6-0 and Green won at No. 5 against Kohno 6-2, 6-0. At No. 6 Waites wasted little time in dispatching Caitlin Tatemichi 6-0, 6-0 in finishing the complete match.
The Sharks are idle until the PacWest Conference Championship Quarterfinals on Thursday, April 18 in Surprise, Ariz.
