HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University saw Chaminade go on a 14-7 run in the last five minutes to open up the final margin as HPU fell to the Silverswords 92-74 on Thursday night in PacWest Conference contest at The Shark Tank.
The Sharks (6-10, 4-6) held a first half lead only to have the Swords (10-6, 8-3) go on a 9-0 run to take a lead they wouldn't relinguish.

Ronald Blain of McDonough, Ga./Union Grove led the Sharks with 19 points and five rebounds, while blocking two shots. Junior

Chaminade was paced by Tyler Cartaino with 24 points to go with six rebounds and four steals. Isaac Amaral-Artharee came off the bench with 18 points, while Kendall Small added 17 points with six assists and Eliet Donley posted 12 points. Andre Arissol grabbed eight rebounds with nine points and six assists.
The Sharks hit 25-of-55 (46 percent) from the floor, including 8-of-21 (38 percent) from the 3-point arc. HPU hit 16-of-31 free throws (52 percent). The Swords shot 53 percent from the field (33-of-62), but just 6-of-18 (33 percent) from the arc. CUH made 20-of-30 (67 percent) of their shots from the charity stripe. The Swords outrebounded HPU 39-30 and turned the ball over 12 times to the Sharks 17.
The game was tight early, with HPU jumping out to a 4-3 lead on a layup by Blain in the opening minute. Foy added a 3-pointer 90 seconds later to give the Sharks a 7-3 lead, their largest of the contest. HPU held the advantage last at 9-7 with 13 minutes to go, only to see the Swords go on the 9-0 run capped by a 3-pointer from Amaral-Artharee that gave them the lead they wouldn't give up. HPU kept the contest close for the rest of the half until CUH posted a 12-3 run to close the half for a 47-32 lead at intermission.
HPU chipped the Swords lead to eight with 7:59 to play on a Martin layup that made it 68-60, but that was as close as the Sharks could get. An 8-0 run just before the final horn gave Chaminade its largest lead at 20 points before HPU got a 3-pointer from Namdar on the way to a 92-74 loss.
HPU closed a six-game homestand on Thursday and now makes a quick two-game California road swing. The Sharks visit Academy of Art on Sunday, with tipoff set for 1:30 p.m. HST (3:30 p.m. PST) following the HPU-ART U women's contest.
