WAIMEA, Hawai'i – No. 8 Hawai'i Pacific University brought out the broom again on the Big Island, beating Dallas Baptist 4-0 the Fairmont Orchid Tennis Center.
 
The Sharks (2-2) got out in front early and stayed there in snapping the Patriots (9-2) seven-match win streak.
 
HPU took two of the three doubles sets for the point as the teams left one unfinished, then cruised to three singles points for the win.

Elodie Busson ripped DBU's Adriana Carpenter/Ashton Wilfong 6-1, and 
Sarah Ikioka/
Nicole Ballach posted the same score at No. 3 against Devon Austin-Canning/Leslie Omeire. The No. 1 doubles teams had DBU's Kate Daugherty/Taylor Leslie up 4-2 on 
Marleen Tilgner/
Mihoki Miyahara when the point was completed and they abandoned the set.
 
Singles went quickly as well. Miyahara beat Carpenter 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 and Tilgner downed Leslie 6-2, 6-1 to go up 3-0. Then Le Normand defeated Genie Hernandez 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 to give HPU the match 4-0.
 
The Sharks were up at No. 5 with Ikioka leading 6-2, 5-3 over Wilfong, and at No. 6 where Ballach held a 6-1, 4-2 advantage on Ira Vogelmann. The No. 1 flight had split sets with Busson leading Daughterty 4-6, 6-4, 2-1 when play was halted.
 
The Sharks have two matches at the Fairmont Orchid Tennis Center on Sunday as they face Hawai'i Hilo at 8 a.m., then follows with a 3:30 p.m. match against Stanislaus State.
