HONOLULU – The Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) proudly announces its 2020-21 Board of Directors following recently completed elections for open positions.
Bill Powers, Assistant Athletic Director, Strategic Communications at Hawai'i Pacific University begins his term as the D2SIDA President. Michael MacEachern, Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communications at Young Harris (Ga.), advances to First Vice President.
Paul Smith, Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications at Texas Woman's University, was elected as the new D2SIDA Second Vice President. Romanda Noble-Watson, Sports Information Director at Claflin (S.C.) was elected as Secretary.
Powers becomes the fifth president in the history of the organization, following Josh Manck, Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Strategic Communications at Texas A&M-Commerce, who retains his board membership as Immediate Past President. Powers starts his 34th year as an intercollegiate communications professional, with 28 of his 33 years in Division II. He has been at HPU since 2016.
Four new Region Representatives were elected to the Board. Emily Dorko, Associate Athletic Director for External Relations at Adelphi (N.Y.) will represent the East Region. Chuck Yahng, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Maryville (Mo.), was elected in the Midwest Region. Sarah Meier, Associate Athletic Director for External Relations at Colorado-Colorado Springs, was selected in the South Central Region. Joe Danahey, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at Humboldt State (Calif.), is the new representative of the West Region.
The four join current Region Representatives Dom Donnelly, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Tusculum (Tenn.) (Southeast), Brian Henry, Director of Athletic Communications at West Florida (South), Jon Holtz, Director of Athletic Communication at Slippery Rock (Pa.) (Atlantic), and Justin Maskus, Athletic Media Relations Director at Missouri Southern (Central).
The D2SIDA is composed of Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The D2SIDA provides a voice for Division II programs at the national level of CoSIDA, develops programming for the annual CoSIDA convention while monitoring trends and issues in Division II, selects All-America teams, and sponsors weekly regional and national ranking programs for multiple sports.
