WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University scored in the 79th minute and that was all that was needed as HPU defeated cross-town rival Chaminade 1-0 in PacWest Conference action on Sunday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks (2-6, 1-1) not only evened their conference record with the win over the Silverswords (3-3, 1-1), but avenged a 1-0 non-conference loss from Sept. 25. The victory snapped the Sharks six-match losing streak.

Kaylee Sumida of Honolulu/Moanalua started the play with a pass to Yoshioka, whose attempt was on frame, in setting up the play.

Madi DePhillips of sophomore from Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep was stellar in with three saves against the 11 shots by the Swords. It was her second shutout of the season,
The Sharks set a season-high with 14 shots, with the Swords' Takata recording three saves and allowing the one goal.
The Sharks continue their homestand on Saturday when they host Concordia Irvine for a PacWest contest. Kickoff at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium is slated for 4:30 p.m.
