WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University battled Concordia Irvine to a 0-0 double overtime tie on Saturday evening at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks (2-6-1, 1-1-1) kept the Eagles (3-3-3, 2-0-1) from winning a third straight PacWest contest with the draw.
The Sharks got a powerful game from sophomore goalkeeper
Madi DePhillips of Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep, who collected seven saves against 18 CUI shots.
CUI goalkeeper Hailey Asato posted four saves against the Sharks nine shots.
The physical contest was marked by eight cards, including red cards against CUI's Carmany Jones in the 68th minute and HPU's
Marcella Chan in the 101st minute.
The Sharks are slated to play again Monday when they face Biola at Waipio Stadium. The contest is scheduled to kickoff at 4:30 p.m.
