Azusa Pacific Women Beat Sharks 2-0

WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Azusa Pacific scored two goals in the last 25 minutes of the match to beat Hawai'i Pacific 2-0 in PacWest Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park Field #5.
 
The Sharks (1-6, 0-1) lost their PacWest Conference opener, while the Cougars (7-2, 2-0) remained unbeaten in league play.
 
APU broke a scoreless tie in the 67th minute following a set piece when Amy Bishop's free kick was headed by an HPU player to the foot of Cougar Rilee Bradbury who put the ball into the left side of the net for the 1-0 lead.
 
APU added the insurance goal in the 71st minute as Tara Hansel took a feed from Brooke Bern and put the shot into the upper right corner.
 
HPU sophomore goalkeeper Madi DePhillips of sophomore from Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep tallied four saves with the two goals facing 16 APU shots.
 
APU goalkeeper Bella Hara got the shutout with three saves against the four HPU shots.
 
HPU is idle until next Sunday, Oct. 10 when the Sharks host cross-town rival Chaminade in PacWest Conference play. Kickoff at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium is slated for 2:30 p.m.
