HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University's winning streak and season came to an end on Thursday, as neighbor island rival Hawai'i Hilo defeated HPU 3-0 in PacWest Conference action at the UH Hilo Soccer Field on the Big Island.
The Sharks (8-6-2, 6-2-2) saw the Vulcans (5-7-1, 3-5-1) snap their five-match winning streak and drop them to fourth place in the tight PacWest standings.
The Vulcans jumped on top early, scoring in the 13th minute on a goal by Devan Yoshimura with an assist from Waturo Muto.
UHH gained even more momentum just before halftime when the Vulcans capitalized in the 44th minute with a goal from Tommy Seaver from Tom Vorkastner.
The Vulcans put the match away in the 68th minute with their third goal of the contest as Julian Garcia scored unassisted for the 3-0 lead.
The Sharks fired eight shots against UHH goalkeeper Michael Harre who notched six saves on the afternoon.

The season comes to an end for the Sharks, but it was successful. The Sharks posted their best overall record since the 2015 season when they finished 10-6-1.
