HONOLULU – The Hawai'i Pacific University women's volleyball team, dropped their conference opener 3-0 against Chaminade Thursday night at The Shark Tank.
The Sharks (0-7, 0-1 Pac West) could not find their rhythm as the Silverswords (6-6, 1-0 Pac West) extended their win streak to three.
Junior outside hitter
Ella Dotson notched a team-high seven kills and a team-high .250 kill percentage. She was one of three hitters with five or more kills in the match. Sophomore setter
Pua Beazley was the only Shark with double-digit digs (10), while graduate setter
Maile Powell acquired a team-high 12 assists.
The Silverswords jumped out to an early five-point lead in the first and kept the foot to the floor as they ran away with the first set 25-13. HPU made some adjustments at the intermission but could not find the edge they needed dropping the final two sets, 25-15 and 25-16.
Chaminade's Brooklen Pe'a led all attackers with ten kills, and setter Alexia Byrnes led the match with 26 assists.
The Sharks island hop to take on UH Hilo on Saturday, Sept. 10, with the first serve set for 7 p.m.
