WAIPI'O, Hawai'i. - On Thursday afternoon, the Hawai'i Pacific women's soccer team faced off against the Chaminade Silverswords under the lights for another Honolulu Derby matchup. The supporters for both programs elevated the atmosphere as they packed the stadium well ahead of the first whistle
As the game began it was clear that both sides would have limited opportunities for clean shots as possession remained in the midfield. However, just before halftime, Chaminade was able to convert on a free kick to take a 1-0 lead and momentum heading into the break.
In the second half,
Madi DePhillips would keep HPU within striking distance as she finished the day with four saves. However, the Sharks search for an equalizer became more urgent as the clocked ticked away. Though with less than four minutes left in the game,
Kayla Fraser would rise to the occasion and put one past the Chaminade keeper off a great assist from
Callie Rheaume.
The match ended in a 1-1 tie for HPU and CUH as they both kept the crowd entertained to the very end
HPU will return to the pitch this Wednesday, Oct. 18th, as they face off against Point Loma
