Women's Tennis Handles UIndy 4-0 in Quarterfinals of Indoor Championships

KEARNEY, Neb. - The No. 4 Hawaii Pacific University women's tennis team defeated No. 5 UIndy 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the ITA DII Indoor National Championships Friday afternoon at Ernest Grundy Tennis Center.

The Sharks (5-2) are red hot as they extended their match-win streak to five and advanced to the semifinals.

Doubles Competition
Elodie Busson and Abagail Wild took control early and never let off the gas taking the first dual of the day 6-1. However, the greyhounds bounced back with a win on the threes court where Diane Flament/ Maissane Aik defeated Rikona Murakami and Nicolle Ballach 6-4. With the doubles point coming down to the ones. Pipa Shaline and Marleen Tilgner were locked in a battle but were able to pull through down the stretch for a 7-5 win securing the point.

Singles Competition
The Sharks made quick work of the singles division with Wild taking her match early winning by retirement 4-0 in the first set. Busson continued the momentum from her double match cleaning up UIndy 6-0, 6-1. Only needing one more point to secure the win came not much later on the threes court win Tilgner winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. 

The Sharks semifinal matchup will be the winner of Barry vs. the University of Nebraska. The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. HT on Saturday.
