Megan Jones Notches Double-Double In Loss To Chaminade

HPU falls to 2-5 in the PacWest Conference

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - In a highly anticipated Battle of H-1 matchup at McCabe Gym, the Hawai'i Pacific University (HPU) women's basketball team faced a challenging 77-66 loss to the Chaminade Silverswords. Eager to bounce back from a previous defeat, the Sharks entered the game with the intention of getting back on track and securing a crucial win on their home turf.

The first half saw the Silverswords building an early lead, with Megan Jones making a significant impact on both ends of the court. Jones flirted with a double-double, showcasing her prowess in scoring and rebounding. As the Sharks headed into the second half looking to complete a 10-point comeback, it was evident that a quick offensive resurgence was essential for HPU to turn the tide in their favor.

Despite their efforts to narrow the gap, foul trouble emerged as the Achilles heel for the Sharks, hindering their ability to mount a successful comeback. Chaminade capitalized on the situation, maintaining their lead and securing the victory. The Sharks, determined to salvage the game, came within four points of the Silverswords, but it proved insufficient to shift the momentum decisively in their favor.

Megan Jones had a standout performance, notching her first career double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and contributing three blocks. Erika Glenn also played a crucial role, providing seven rebounds and five assists alongside her eight points. Despite their individual efforts, the Sharks couldn't overcome the collective challenges posed by Chaminade.

With this loss, the Sharks find themselves with a 2-5 record in the conference, highlighting the urgency for a quick rebound. The team faces an early afternoon matchup against Hilo, presenting a pivotal opportunity to regroup and make a statement in the competitive PacWest standings.
