Waipahu, HI — The Hawaii Pacific University men's soccer team suffered a tough 3-2 defeat against Dominican University on October 3rd at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium. The Sharks started strong, securing a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Jonathan Sorto (7') and Cade Anderson (20'), assisted by Kelly Takara and Dylan Barreria, respectively.
However, the second half saw Dominican storm back with three unanswered goals, including the game-winner by Diego Grande in the 75th minute, leaving the Sharks stunned. HPU's overall record now stands at 2-6 and 1-1 in PacWest play.
Despite the loss, the Sharks showed strong offensive pressure, taking 9 total shots to Dominican's 7. Goalkeeper Quinlan Van Arkel made two crucial saves, but it wasn't enough to stop the second-half surge by Dominican. As HPU looks ahead to the remainder of the season, tightening up defensive plays will be key in maintaining early leads and securing conference wins.
The Sharks will return to action next week, seeking redemption in their upcoming match against Academy of Art.
