Waipahu, HI — The Hawaii Pacific University women's soccer team put up a strong defensive effort but ultimately fell 1-0 to Dominican University on October 3rd at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium. Despite creating multiple scoring opportunities, the Sharks were unable to find the back of the net. Dominican's Carmi Dotario broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute, scoring the match's only goal.
HPU recorded 10 shots (8 on target) compared to Dominican's 7 (6 on target), and had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Gabby Nunez made 5 key saves to keep the Sharks in contention, but the offense couldn't capitalize. With the loss, HPU's record now stands at 1-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in PacWest play.
The Sharks will look to rebound in their next conference matchup as they continue to fine-tune their game strategies and offensive execution.
