(Honolulu, HI) - The Hawai'i Pacific University women's basketball team continued their impressive start to the season with a decisive 75-65 victory over Alaska Fairbanks at the Shark Tank. The Sharks, now 2-0, showcased balanced scoring, clutch defense, and resilience throughout the game to remain undefeated.


First Quarter: A Back-and-Forth Start

The game began at a high pace, with both teams trading baskets en route to a 26-26 tie after the opening frame. The Sharks' offense was electric, shooting 62.5% from the field and hitting six three-pointers, led by Ella Berge, who connected on three triples and scored nine points in the quarter. The even battle set the tone for an exciting matchup.


Second Quarter: Sharks Take Control

HPU pulled ahead in the second quarter, outscoring Alaska Fairbanks 19-13. The Sharks leaned on their perimeter shooting, with four more three-pointers falling, including key shots from Lupe Vazquez and Sarah Tait. Erika Glenn added to the momentum with her court vision, dishing out six assists in the game. At halftime, the Sharks held a 45-39 lead, thanks to their sharp offensive execution and strong rebounding presence.

The third quarter was a defensive battle, with both teams scoring just 16 points apiece.
