Sharks Celebrate Senior Night as Jacobsen Reaches 100 Saves Mark

WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University women's soccer closed out its 2025 season on Saturday afternoon at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium, honoring its seniors in front of the home crowd while goalkeeper Skylar Jacobsen capped off the year reaching the 100-save milestone. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Sharks fell 3–0 to Hawai'i Hilo in their final PacWest matchup.

The match opened with an even pace, as both defenses held firm through the first half. Jacobsen made several key stops early to keep the game scoreless, directing traffic and showcasing the same poise that anchored the Sharks all season long.

After the break, Hilo broke through in the 58th minute on a strike from Annette Sotelo, followed by goals from Tatianna Chavez and Elise Flores in the closing stretch. HPU continued to battle to the end, pushing forward in search of a late response, but the Vulcans' attack proved too much in the final minutes.

Jacobsen finished the afternoon with 14 saves, including eight in the second half — her eighth double-digit performance of the season — surpassing the century mark in total saves. The senior's consistency in goal has been a bright spot all year, often keeping HPU within striking distance against some of the conference's toughest opponents.

Saturday also marked a special moment as HPU celebrated its seniors, recognizing their dedication and leadership within the program. The Sharks end the 2025 campaign with a 2–8–5 record, but with a strong core returning and the foundation set for continued growth, the future remains bright in Waipahu.
