Santa Barbara, CA - Hawaii Pacific dropped the final 2 games of their series vs. Westmont on Monday,
February 17th. The Sharks continued to struggle offensively especially with runners in scoring position while Westmont's offense exploded for 11 runs in the first game while adding 2 in the second which was enough to get the job done. Westmont freshman
Jesse Di Maggio hit 2 homeruns in game 1 as well as driving in both runs in game 2.
Noah Blythe continued to swing a hot bat for the Sharks while
Skyler Agnew hit his first bomb of the year.
HPU jumped out to an early lead in game 1 after Agnew's home run in the top of the second. The Warriors responded in the bottom half with 2 home runs and were able to extend the lead to 7 in the bottom of the 5th. The Sharks got one back in the 7th on an error, but the Warriors tacked on a couple more before the end of the game.
Game 2 was a pretty tight contest as HPU starter
Enrique Espinoza gave the Sharks 3.1 innings of work on the mound allowing only 1 earned run. The Sharks 1-2 punch out of the bullpen of
Makana Quia and
Ryan Inouye continued to impress as they allowed just 1 hit in 2.2 innings of work.
Bronson Rivera hit a solo shot in the 7th to bring the tying run to the plate but the Warriors prevailed.
The Sharks will look to bounceback against Azusa Pacific
February 20th-22nd.
