Honolulu, HI - The HPU Softball team played 3 tightly fought games this past weekend against Chaminade. They took game 1 by a score of 1-0, and then were able to bring they tying run to the plate in games 2 and 3 but fell just short.
Game 1
Taylor Thompson continued to be dominant in the circle, going the distance and allowing just 3 hits while striking out 4. A sacrifice fly by
Marissa Marshall in the 4th inning was the only offense the Sharks needed, as they won 1-0.
Game 2
The second game was another low scoring affair, as
Angelica Oseguera went 5 innings allowing just 2 runs. The Sharks scored in the 4th on an error and had the winning run on first in the 7th, but ended up falling 2-1.
Game 3
The Sharks jumped out 6-0 in game 3, highlighted by a
Jewel Larson triple. The held a commanding 7-2 lead going into the bottom of the 5th, but Chaminade responded in a big way, scoring 7 runs. The Sharks were unable to respond and lost 9-7.
The Sharks will look to bounce back this weekend as they take on Biola for a 3 game series
April 4th-5th at
Sand Island.
