Sharks Cap Off Record Breaking Weekend With Arnold's Walk-off Grand Slam

Honolulu, HI - It was quite the week for the Sharks baseball team as they started it off with a hard fought battle against UH that came down to the final at bats as they lost 10-8 getting 14 hits on the day. They were able to stay hot at the plate as they completed the 4 game sweep against Hilo showing once again that with their offensive firepower, they are never out of a game, no matter the initial deficit.

Game 1

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Bronson Rivera went yard for his record-setting 14th home run of the season, etching his name into the HPU record book. Skyler Agnew picked up 3 hits, finishing a home run shy of the cycle as the Sharks took the first game, 8-5.

Game 2

The story of game 2 was Conor Hourigan, as the senior right hander went 6 innings giving up just 2 runs as the Sharks won 4-2. Bronson Rivera smoked a 2-run double in the 3rd to give the Sharks the lead, and that was all they needed. Closer Ryan Inouye came in for the save, setting another program record for career saves.

Game 3

Hilo jumped out to an early 4 run lead in the 1st, but the Sharks answered back, scoring 5 in the bottom half en route to a dominating offensive performance. Noah Blythe, Tyler Arnold, and Ethan Murakoshi all hit homeruns as the Sharks put up 15 runs and took game 3 by a score of 15-8.

Game 4

In an epic back and forth game, the Sharks set the program record for home runs in a single game with 5. The Sharks did not have the lead from the second inning on, until Tyler Arnold came up to the plate with 1 out in the 9th inning and cranked a walk off grand slam deep over the trees in left field. Noah Hata hit his first home run of the season, finishing a triple shy of the cycle. Kan Taguchi, Noah Blythe, and Bronson Rivera all homered as well in the 16-14 victory.

After a weekend full of record breaking, the Sharks look to break even more records and take the series from Point Loma, the team that ended their season last year. The Sharks will take on Point for 2 double headers on April 12th, and April 14th.
