Honolulu, HI - The Sharks split a 4 game series with Point Loma as they took the first 2 games on Saturday but lost both on Monday. Although the Sharks were looking to take the series on Monday, their impressive performance this past weekend puts them in a great position heading into the home stretch of the regular season.

Game 1

The first game was a thriller from pitch 1, as both teams battled back and forth all game. A 3 run homer put Point Loma up by 3 heading into the bottom of the third inning, but the Sharks rallied for 6 runs, stringing together a bunch of competitive at bats. Point scored a couple to narrow the deficit, but in the bottom of the 8th inning, Kan Taguchi and Skyler Agnew rocked back-to-back home runs to put the Sharks ahead by 4. Point would not go out quietly as they rallied back to tie the game in the top of the 9th, but with the bases loaded and 1 out, Taguchi floated a base hit into centerfield to walk it off for the Sharks.

Game 2

The Sharks dominated from the first pitch in game 2. Noah Blythe mashed a 2 run bomb in the 1st to put the Sharks up by 2, and the offense didn't stop there. The Sharks scored in every inning but the 6th to claim an 11-3 victory. Sophomore Brennan Kettle was outstanding, going 4.1 scoreless innings and successfully shutting down Point Loma's offense.

Game 3

The third game was a tight one. The Sharks held on to a 7-5 lead going into the 6th before things started to unravel a little bit. Point was able to get their offense going and tack on 8 runs in the late innings. The Sharks lost 13-8.

Game 4

Despite an early 2 run bomb from Skyler Agnew, the Sharks offense couldn't really get going in the last game. They made a lot of solid contact, but nothing seemed to find real estate. Point Loma put up 12 runs and took game 4 to split the series.

Despite things not going their way on the final day, this was a statement series for the Sharks. They proved that they can hang with anybody in the Country, and their offense is truly a force to be reckoned with. The Sharks will take on Vanguard at Hans L'Orange April 17th-19th, in a big series where they can potentially clinch their second consecutive PacWest playoff berth.
