Kelly Strikes Again

Sharks Remain Undefeated, Draw Against Mountain Lions 1-1

9/19/2025 7:46:00 PM

Box Score  WAIPAHU, Hawai'i - Hawai'i Pacific University (3-0-2) remains unbeaten through the end of their final game of conference play, as they draw against the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs (1-2-3) with a score of 1-1.

The Sharks were quick off the blocks in the afternoon matchup. In just the ninth minute of play, junior Pedro Ashley connected with Aiea's-own junior Kelly Takara, who placed it past the Mountain Lions' junior goalkeeper Hugo Sjoberg.

The Sharks worked the ball impressively, supplying constant pressure to the Mountain Lions' defenses. This resulted in HPU outshooting UCCS 15-12, with four shots on goal.

While freshman goalkeeper Oliver Holt did give up the game-tying goal in the 55th minute of play, when the Mountain Lions' senior Rory Scott was connected to by freshman Charlie Dennis, Holt provided a steady defensive backstop and made three saves on the day.

The Sharks will start their conference slate of games as the only undefeated team in the PacWest against the Jessup University Warriors (1-2-1) this Thursday, Sept. 25, at 2:00 p.m. HT at Warrior Field in Rocklin, Calif. As with all conference match-ups, the games will be livestreamed on the PacWest Network.
