Sharks Battle Eagles in Kailua

KAILUA, Hawaiʻi — The Hawaiʻi Pacific men's tennis team battled to the wire Friday afternoon, coming up just short in a tightly contested 4–3 decision against Biola at the Kailua Racquet Club.

The Sharks (2-1) showcased depth and resilience, claiming the doubles point and earning key singles victories in a match that featured three-set battles and momentum swings throughout.

HPU opened strong by securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The duo of Ethan Terry and Mile Matic cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Adam Vasir and Matteo Perrod delivered a dominant 6-0 sweep at No. 3 to give the Sharks an early 1-0 advantage.

In singles play, Vasir delivered one of the day's most impressive performances at No. 3, rallying from a first-set tiebreak loss to defeat Adam Large 6-7 (5-10), 6-4, 6-2. Perrod added another point for HPU with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Thiago Canessa at No. 5 singles.

Biola secured the match by winning four singles contests, including three-set victories at Nos. 1 and 2. Despite the setback, the Sharks pushed the Eagles in nearly every matchup, with multiple courts decided by narrow margins and tiebreaks.

The competitive outing highlights HPU's early-season form and depth, as the Sharks demonstrated the ability to control doubles play and compete strongly across the singles lineup.

Hawaiʻi Pacific returns to action tomorrow against in-state rivals Hawai'i Hilo at the Kailua Racquet Club.
