West Drops 39, Sharks Fall in Tight 93-90 Battle at CUI

IRVINE, Calif. — Hawai'i Pacific shot over 60 percent from the field but came up just short Saturday night, falling to Concordia Irvine 93-90 in a back-and-forth PacWest matchup inside CU Arena.

The Sharks (17-10, 13-9 PacWest) and Eagles traded momentum throughout a contest that featured 11 ties and 12 lead changes. HPU led 42-49 at halftime after shooting a blistering 60.7 percent in the opening half, but CUI answered late to secure the three-point win.

Joshua West delivered one of the most efficient scoring performances of the season, pouring in 39 points on 14-of-16 shooting, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. He added five steals and shot 6-of-10 from the free throw line in a dominant offensive effort.

Quinton McCullough added 17 points and six rebounds, while Quentin Meza contributed 10 points. Josh Niusulu pulled down five rebounds, and Maj Dusanic chipped in six points as HPU finished the night shooting 60.7 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from three.

The Sharks scored 42 points in the paint and added 15 fast-break points, but Concordia capitalized on second-chance opportunities, finishing with 21 second-chance points and 50 points in the paint. The Eagles also received a strong boost from their bench, which contributed 31 points.

Despite the loss, Hawai'i Pacific showcased offensive firepower and resilience in one of the highest-scoring games of the conference slate.
