Sharks Sweep Doubles, Defeat Texas A&M–Kingsville 6–1

HONOLULU — Hawai'i Pacific earned a strong 6–1 victory over Texas A&M–Kingsville on Wednesday, sweeping all three doubles matches before winning five of six singles contests to secure the team win in Honolulu.

The Sharks set the tone early in doubles play. Evi Roobol and Annika Hakovirta opened the match with a dominant 6–1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Willow Dymkowski and Tereza Noah followed with a 6–0 victory at No. 2. HPU completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles as Kayleigh Castillo and Kaia Sperry edged their opponents 7–5 to give the Sharks a strong start.

In singles action, HPU continued to build its lead. Castillo picked up a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles, defeating Maya Donkor 6–2, 6–3. Dymkowski added another point for the Sharks at No. 5 singles with a 6–4, 6–2 victory over Emma Halvarsson.

Lynn Kader secured a tight win at No. 6 singles, battling to a 7–6, 6–1 result against Kaitlin Blount.

At the top of the lineup, Roobol rallied after dropping the opening set to defeat Guadalupe Tocci 2–6, 6–2, 6–3 at No. 1 singles. Noah delivered another dramatic finish at No. 2 singles, outlasting Andrea Landaeta 7–6, 3–6, 10–5 in a third-set tiebreak.

Texas A&M–Kingsville's lone point came at No. 4 singles, where Annika Gomez Andersson edged Hakovirta in a three-set match.

With the victory, Hawai'i Pacific finished the day with wins in all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches to secure the 6–1 team result.
