CHICO, California – Hawai'i Pacific fell to Chico State, 2-0, Saturday night at University Soccer Stadium. The loss drops HPU to 1-3-1 on the season.
Chico State opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Darius Dukes converted a penalty kick to make it 1-0. The Wildcats carried that lead into halftime, with Sharks goalkeeper
Oliver Holt facing seven shots in the opening 45 minutes.
Hawai'i Pacific pushed for an equalizer in the second half and had a golden chance in the 88th minute, when
Danny Pascanu's shot struck the right woodwork. Chico State sealed the result moments later, as Simon Vaca-Lorenzi scored in the 89th minute off an assist from Dukes to make it 2-0.
Chico State out-shot Hawai'i Pacific 14-9 on the night, though the Sharks did not register a shot on goal. Holt made no saves across the full 90 minutes, as the two shots Chico State managed on frame both resulted in goals.
