HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific fell to Hawai'i-Hilo, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Vulcan Soccer Field. The loss drops Hawai'i Pacific to 0-7-0 on the season.
Hawai'i-Hilo opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Maia Hales scored off an assist from Brooke Peiler to make it 1-0. The Vulcans added to their lead in the 30th minute, as Elise Flores converted a penalty kick to make it 2-0. Sharks goalkeeper

HPU pushed for a response in the second half, testing Hawai'i-Hilo goalkeeper Lydia Keller on four separate occasions, including shots from
Ava-Rose Whitmer,
Cadence Mason,
Kaitlyn Anderson, and
Olivia Scott. Keller turned aside all four to preserve the shutout.
Natalie Navarro, who took over in goal for HPU to start the second half, did not face a shot on target the rest of the way.
Hawai'i-Hilo out-shot Hawai'i Pacific 18-7 on the afternoon, with a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Hawai'i Pacific was whistled for eight fouls to Hawai'i-Hilo's nine, while Hawai'i-Hilo held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Hawai'i Pacific returns home to face Chaminade on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6:00 p.m. at Waipio Soccer Stadium.
