Biography

Personal: Born in Honolulu…parents are Antonio and Joelle Sanchez…has two siblings Gabrielle and Lauryn…her hobbies include going to the beach, hanging out with friends, eating good food, going hiking, going to concerts and listening to music…she enjoys watching The Little Mermaid, Tangled, Up, Outsiders, Love and Basketball and 50 First Dates…her favorite musical artists are Lauryn Hill, Odd Future, Chance the Rapper, J Boog, Chris Brown, Jhene Aiko and Dom K...Kayla’s favorite athletes are Kobe Bryant, Andrea Duran and Lovieanne Jung…chose HPU because she wanted to come back home for college and loves the small classes and where the campuses are located as well as being apart of the softball program…majoring in Pre-Chiropractic Studies…In ten years Kayla wants to be a professional athletic trainer for a great university or even for a professional team in the NBA or MLB…. she wants to be involved in sports as long as she can once she gets out of college

Prior to HPU: Graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, California… played third base, catcher and outfield under coach Ron Smith…was named 2nd Team All League her junior year…broke her school record for most RBI

HPU:2016- played in 47  games and started in 44. In 130 at-bats she scored 29 runs, and walked 22 times. She drove in 37 RBI’s on 46 hits. She has 39 putouts, 82 assists, and a .877 fielding percentage.  2015: played in 33  games and started in 23. In 76 at-bats she scored seven runs, and walked 16 times. She drove in nne RBI’s on 13 hits. She has 19 putouts, three assists, and a .917 fielding percentage. . 2014: Started in 40 of the 42 games she appeared in, hitting for a .265 average on the season. She scored 10 runs on 30 hits while driving in 19 and was second on the team with nine doubles. Sanchez also tied for the team lead with four homeruns while hitting for a .451 slugging percentage.
