Drake Hanley returns to the Sharks for his second year from Scottsdale, Arizona. The 6-foot-2 runner is pursuing a degree in Nursing at Hawai'i Pacific, where he holds a 4.0 GPA.

Last season, Hanley was the Sharks' second finisher at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, running 29:32.8. He came to HPU after attending Notre Dame Preparatory in Scottsdale, where he competed in cross country, track and field and swimming under coaches Katrina Spratford and Chris Nash. He earned letters in all three sports, including four-year letters in cross country and track and field, and was named the 2023-24 Most Improved Track and Field Athlete.

Hanley chose HPU for its mix of outdoors and education and for the opportunity to continue running at a competitive level. In his free time, he enjoys guitar, rock climbing, working out and hiking. Looking ahead, he hopes to own a business in the medical field while staying involved in running. He is the son of Mark and has a stepmother, India, and a sister, Laura.
