Summary

Biography

Darlene Alvarez returns to the Sharks for her fifth year from Weston, Florida. The 5-foot-4 runner is pursuing a degree in Communications Studies and Practices at Hawai'i Pacific.

Alvarez grew up as a swimmer and took up cross country after moving to Hawai'i. She came to HPU after attending David Posnack Day School in Davie, Florida, where she competed in swimming under coach Ricardo Monasterio. She served as captain of the women's varsity swim team and was named the team's MVP.

Alvarez chose HPU because she loved the idea of going to school in Hawai'i and appreciated a small, intimate institution. In her free time, she enjoys DIY projects, sewing, crafts and shopping. Looking ahead, she hopes to build her dream home with her husband. She was born in Broward County, Florida, and is the daughter of David Mizrahi.
