David Patterson begins his first season as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Sharks Basketball Team. Patterson is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer, He also serves as the Head Coach of GYMGUYZ Urban Honolulu, a mobile fitness franchise.

Patterson previously served as the head men’s basketball coach at NCAA Division III Principia College (Ill.), his alma mater, for three seasons from 2008-11 with a 15-57 overall record, increasing the Panthers wins each season. A hallmark of his teams was their physical conditioning. Coach Patterson has channeled his passion for coaching to assist individuals to improve their physical fitness and movement functionality.

Patterson, who has resided in Honolulu for more than 25 years, was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He’s a three-time Emmy-award winning news producer with many years of experience as a marketing professional as well. He has worked for Hawaii News Now as a producer and KHNL as an executive producer.

He is also a coach for the 2017 College Basketball Summer League champions, held in Manoa.

Patterson has four children, four grandchildren and lives with his wife, Gina and her son, in Hawaii Kai.
