Jamison Carmichael is in his first season as a volunteer assistant for the Sharks.
 
He comes to HPU after two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Baker (Kan.), helping the Wildcats improve from a nine-win season in 2015-16 to 17 wins in 2016-17 as BU knocked off nationally-ranked opponents in one of the toughest NAIA conferences in the US.
 
Prior to Baker, Carmichael was an intern on the staff of Larry Brown at SMU. He was a part the Mustangs American Athletic Conference Championship and AAC Tournament Championship that led to the Ponies first NCAA Tournament appearance in 22 years.
 
Additionally, he has experience with AAU basketball, working for Mokan the past four summers.
 
A 2015 graduate of Kansas with a bachelor’s in sports management, Carmichael added a master’s in management and leadership from Baker in 2017.
 
The son of Janelle and Dan Russell, he was born and raised in Manhattan, Kan.
