Scott Young

Scott Young begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Sharks.  He served as a volunteer coach for the men’s team for two years while also working full time and coaching girl’s basketball at Punahou School.  Prior to that he served as the video coordinator for the University of Hawai‘i women’s basketball team for three seasons.  He was part of the staff that guided Rainbow Wahine basketball to its first NCAA tournament invitation since 1998 during the 2015-16 season.  Young also coached boy’s basketball at the high school level for Damien Memorial School, Maryknoll School, and St. Mary’s International School in Tokyo Japan, while also serving as a history teacher at each institution.

Born and raised in Hawai‘i, Young graduated from and played basketball for Maryknoll School.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree in political science in 2000 from Hawai‘i. He then earned a master of arts in teaching social studies from Indiana in 2002.

Young is married to Saori Teraoka Young and the couple resides in Honolulu.
