Maya Pompel is an accomplished distance runner from Placentia, California, competing for the Sharks in cross country. At El Dorado High School under coach Margaret Human, she earned varsity letters in both cross country and track during her junior and senior seasons, serving as the Track and Field Distance Captain in her final year. She chose HPU for its strong marine science program, unique opportunities in biological oceanography, and the welcoming cross country team environment. Outside of competition, Maya enjoys diving, hiking, and spending time at the beach.
