Leandro Santillan is a 5’6” sophomore runner on the men’s Cross Country team. This is Santillan’s first season with the Sea Warriors after transferring from Garden City Community College to Hawai’i Pacific for his second season. Leandro has showed steady improvement throughout the year and began peaking when the Sea Warriors took a trip to San Diego, California to participate in the Triton Classic on October 6th, where Leandro clinched 12th place overall out of 158 runners that competed. Santillan helped lead his team to a second place finish, at the UH-Hilo Invitational on October 13th, while claiming third place overall for himself and trimming his previous season low by over 30 seconds. Leandro most recently finished in the top 8th at the PacWest Championships at Kahuku Golf Course, earning Second Team All-PacWest honors.
With a strong sophomore campaign to his name, Santillan still has two seasons remaining as a runner at HPU and will be a top returner for the Sea Warriors in 2013.
