Women’s Soccer Falls To Dixie State

St. George, UT (9/30/10) – At Hansen Stadium on the campus of Dixie State College, the HPU women's soccer team fell to the Red Storm, 2-0. HPU falls to 2-2 in the PacWest and 2-5 overall, while Dixie improves to 3-2 in conference and 6-3 overall.

Fullback Whitney Davis scored a pair of goals in the second half to lead Dixie to the win. In the 72nd minute she was taken down in the penalty box by Nicole Craig (Honolulu, HI), and promptly put home the penalty kick to give DSC the one goal lead.

Three minutes later Davis scored again, this time off a header from Camille Peterson-Jensen to up Dixie's lead to 2-0.

HPU goalkeeper Carianne Makino (Honolulu, HI) posted four saves for HPU, and April Beck did the same in net for Dixie State.

Meghan Fuller (Pearl City, HI) recorded two shots on goal for the Sea Warriors, who were outshot by Dixie State, 9-7.

HPU takes on Dixie State one more time before heading to Phoenix for two matches against Grand Canyon. The two teams play Saturday, October 2, at 7:30 p.m.
