Women’s Soccer Tops Swords

Kaneohe, HI (10/27/10) – At Atherton Field, the HPU women's soccer team topped Chaminade, 3-1. HPU improved to 6-8 overall and 6-5 in the PacWest, while Chaminade dropped to 2-10 overall and 2-8 in conference.

Yasmina Taketa opened the scoring for HPU midway through the first half. After Sanoe Souza's shot was saved by Sword keeper Marissa Minor, Taketa followed up to post her second goal of the season.

After a Chaminade own goal in the 28th minute, Jackie Ho scored on a header off a Mairead Bretney corner kick to give HPU a 3-0 lead.

HPU keeper Carianne Makino posted one save in the first half and Joy Nakahara, who was subbed in at halftime, recorded three second half saves. Minor posted 12 saves in the losing effort.

HPU now travels to Hilo, HI to take on the UH-Hilo Vulcans this Saturday, October 30. Start time is set for 3:00 p.m.
