Sharks Drop Final Season Match Against Silverswords

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - Hawai'i Pacific visited Chaminade in its season finale on Saturday morning at Saint Louis Field, and the Sharks and Silverswords stayed scoreless for 56 minutes before Chaminade broke through and pulled away for a 3-0 win. The loss moves Hawai'i Pacific to 0-14-3 overall and 0-7-2 in PacWest play.

The first half was a tense, back-and-forth battle. Chaminade's Marianna Carpenter hit the woodwork in the eighth minute, but Hawai'i Pacific answered with chances of its own, as Jadyn Miller put a shot on frame in the 13th minute that was saved by Silverswords goalkeeper Sydney Bakritzes and Kaitlyn Anderson sent an attempt just wide in the 15th. Sharks goalkeeper Natalie Navarro stopped a Shannon Healy shot in the 38th minute, and the teams went to the break level at 0-0.

The deadlock held until the 57th minute, when Olivia Leonard's steal set up Milan Cordone, who dribbled to the middle and finished from 20 yards out to give Chaminade a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, a Cordone set piece bounced off Sharks goalkeeper Azjah Tocher, who took over in goal at halftime, and the crossbar, and Leonard was there to head in the rebound in the 62nd minute to make it 2-0. Leonard added her second goal in the 72nd minute off an assist from Emmerson Peller to cap the scoring at 3-0. Lavinia Vaipulu answered nine seconds later with Hawai'i Pacific's lone second-half shot, which sailed just wide.

Tocher kept the margin from growing, making four saves in a four-minute stretch from the 78th to the 82nd minute and finishing with six saves after the break.

Chaminade outshot Hawai'i Pacific 17-3 and put 10 shots on goal to the Sharks' one. Leonard led the Silverswords with six shots, three of them on frame, while Kenna Kiefer put all three of her shots on goal. The Silverswords held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks, and Hawai'i Pacific was called for six fouls to Chaminade's two.

The match closed the book on the 2026 season for Hawai'i Pacific Women's Soccer, which finished 0-13-3 overall and 0-7-2 in PacWest play. The Sharks battled to three draws along the way: a 2-2 tie with Chaminade at home on Sept. 16, a 1-1 draw at Point Loma in the PacWest opener on Sept. 26 behind nine saves from Navarro, and a 1-1 draw with Jessup on Senior Night on Oct. 26. Hawai'i Pacific also came within a goal of a result twice in October, falling 1-0 to UH Hilo on Oct. 17 and 4-3 to Dominican on Oct. 23 in a seven-goal match.
